I have always loved you

So then there was the time I walked up to a man — a total stranger — and said “I have always loved you.”

We looked at each other for a few seconds. I realized that although that is what I meant to say, it was an incomplete thought.

“I mean,” I explained, “that I want one ticket to see the movie I Have Always Loved You.”

I paid for my ticket and went in to see the movie, wondering if I was the only one to have asked for the ticket in that way.
