I had my hearing tested this year, at my request. I thought I noticed that I had to ask people to repeat themselves a bit more than usual. I thought I noticed that I had to have the TV louder than before. I wondered if I really couldn’t hear my husband or was just ignoring him.
My hearing is normal. Now, I don’t know if I’ve had any hearing loss, since I don’t have anything to compare it to. I may have lost some hearing even though my hearing is still in the normal range.
Especially for someone my age. That’s what the discussion came down to, my aging. Turns out – I’m told – that as we age, our brain processes information slower. So when I miss a word or two from a conversation (for whatever reason), it will take me longer to catch up (if I do catch up) and by then I’ve missed even more of the conversation (or TV show).
Well, that explains everything.
