Our trash pick up day is Saturday. The container is supposed to out at the street by 7:00 a.m. For many years, the truck came by between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
About 6 six weeks ago, that changed. The time, that is. I took the container to the street at 6:50 a.m., and saw that the truck had already passed our house and had turned the corner.
Sure enough, our container was still on the street that night, full.
On Monday I called the refuse company and they picked up our trash on Wednesday.
Now we put out the trash container by 6:30 a.m. The truck usually comes by at 6:45 a.m.
We’re on a long rural road, about 6 miles long. I just wonder how many people had to call a time or two before they figured out that having to have the container out by 7:00 a.m. really meant by 6:30 a.m. And, did anyone at the refuse company notice the increase in calls from addresses on our street? Probably not.
